Seating Chart Builder

Seating Chart Builder

Quick reference guide for teachers

Step 1: Copy your class list

In the Faculty Portal, open the class you want a seating chart for.

Click Class Lists (names only) and copy a list of student names.

Step 2: Open the Seating Chart Builder

From the Faculty Portal, click Seating Chart Builder.

The tool opens in a new tab, ready for you to paste in names.

Step 3: Generate your chart

Paste the copied names into the text box.

Choose a layout (Rows or Pods) and, for Rows, set the number of columns.

Click Generate Chart. Leave Randomize on generate checked for a random start, or uncheck it to keep your pasted order.

Step 4: Arrange desks to match your room

Drag any desk to reposition it, so the layout matches your actual classroom.

Double-click a name to correct or edit it.

Use + Add Desk for an extra seat, or Shuffle Names to reassign who sits where without moving desks.

Step 5: Save your work

Click Print to print a copy, or use your browser's Print to PDF option to save a file.

Good to know: nothing saves automatically

The tool does not save your chart between visits. If you close the tab or refresh the page, your arrangement is gone.

Before you navigate away, print your chart or save it as a PDF so you have a copy to keep.
